About the role

The Vice President, Commercial Operations is accountable for leading customer journey management, experience design, and innovation. This position develops strategies that balance customer-driven long-term thinking with near-term revenue goals and leads cross-functional initiatives to maximize customer lifetime value growth. The role reports to the SVP of Sales and requires deep collaboration to succeed in a complex, competitive industry.

This position contributes to company culture by fostering alignment with our mission and values, ensuring voice-of-the-customer (VoC) and customer data drive decisions, and redefining metrics to reflect the entire customer journey—creating loyalty, growth, and advocacy.

This position contributes to leadership by actively participating in the extended executive leadership team, investing in talent development, aligning teams to priorities, and serving as a role model for employee engagement and retention.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a multi-faceted team, including customer service, post-sales operations, and field service, to oversee commercial operations programs.
  • Develop and deploy the commercial operations strategy, including strategic customer segmentation and systematic application of customer insights for growth.
  • Coordinate commercial operations roles across the organization to minimize silos in systems, data, assumptions, hand-offs, and customer touch-points.
  • Develop customer performance dashboards connecting lagging market indicators with leading team performance metrics tied to customer lifetime value.
  • Implement systematic action on customer insights through cross-functional collaboration to prevent recurring issues and create new mutual value.
  • Align strategy, roles, digital tools, processes, and analytics to support commercial operations.
  • Define and implement sales effectiveness metrics to assess, train, and evaluate sales teams.
  • Drive execution of the sales effectiveness strategy, ensuring alignment with customer expectations, commercial readiness, outcome-based selling, and reliable data for faster decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree in an appropriate discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of executive-level sales and/or marketing leadership experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience leading sales, marketing, or customer service teams.
  • Experience identifying and translating consumer research and data into actionable strategies that drive profitable growth.

This full-time position offers a competitive base salary plus incentives. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location, with individual pay based on job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
