Travel Registered Nurse Adolescent Behavioral Health Inpatient Job
Overview
Registered Nurse — Adolescent Behavioral Health Inpatient in Rochester, New York. Start date: 08/03/2026 for a 13-week travel assignment. Weekly pay: $1,856 to $1,958 per week. Shift: 12-hour shifts. Setting: inpatient adolescent behavioral health unit within a hospital. This placement involves rotating day, evening, and night shifts with weekend and holiday coverage as needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients aged 5–18 experiencing acute mental health crises, under multidisciplinary team guidance
- Monitor patient status, administer medications per unit protocol, and document care and response
- Apply de-escalation techniques, maintain patient and staff safety, and participate in crisis intervention as needed
- Facilitate and support therapeutic activities, psychoeducation, and group-based interventions (e.g., Activities Therapy, Mindfulness, Wellness, Coping Skills groups)
- Collaborate with psychiatry, social work, psychology, therapy, and nursing colleagues to meet patient goals and care plans
- Complete accurate assessments, recordkeeping, and regulatory compliance; participate in on-call rotations per unit need
Requirements
- Active New York State RN license
- Minimum 2 years of pediatric mental health experience
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Ability to work in a hospital inpatient unit with pediatric patients in acute crisis
- PREFERRED: CPI blue card; experience in a large, academic medical center
- Telemetry experience is a plus but not required
Education
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in New York required
