About the role

The Transportation Generalist/Associate positions at the Floodwood Truck Station are integral to ensuring safe travel for residents and visitors. These roles encompass a variety of tasks including road maintenance, snow and ice removal, and landscaping.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain roadways, right-of-ways, and shoulders with gravel, bituminous, and concrete road surfaces.
  • Operate all tractor mowers and small rollers for road maintenance.
  • Set up and manage traffic control systems to ensure safety during high traffic periods.
  • Perform landscaping duties such as planting, watering, seeding, and removing debris.
  • Remove snow and ice from roadways and shoulders, open and widen roadways, and apply anti-icing/de-icing chemicals.
  • Inspect and maintain snow and ice removal equipment and prepare for winter storms.
  • Document snow and ice data for inventory and resource management.

Requirements

  • One year of experience in snow and ice, soils, road surface maintenance, roadside maintenance, bridge maintenance, signs, or related activities.
  • A valid MN Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tanker endorsement and no air brake restrictions.
  • Ability to obtain a Class A CDL within 30 days of hire.
  • Working knowledge of English sufficient for communication with employees and the public.

Qualifications

  • For Transportation Generalist: Completion of a Heavy Equipment Operation and Maintenance Program or equivalent experience.
  • For Transportation Associate: Commercial Driver's Permit with no air brake restrictions and the ability to obtain a Class A CDL within 3 months of hire.

Pay

  • Transportation Associate: $23.57 - $24.28 / hourly; $49,214 - $50,697 / annually
  • Transportation Generalist: $25.19 - $31.60 / hourly; $52,597 - $65,981 / annually

Schedule

  • Full-time, year-round position with seasonal schedules (summer hours & winter hours).
  • Summer hours: Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (4-10’s).
  • Winter hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
