Transportation Generalist/Transportation Associate – Sandstone Truck Station
About the role
The Transportation Generalist/Associate positions at the Sandstone Truck Station are integral to ensuring safe travel for residents and visitors. These roles encompass both summer and winter seasons, focusing on road maintenance and snow/ice control respectively.
Responsibilities
Maintain and reconstruct roadways, right-of-ways, and road surfaces using various materials and equipment.
Operate and maintain heavy equipment such as tractors, mowers, and small rollers.
Set up and manage traffic control systems during high traffic volumes.
Perform landscaping tasks including tree trimming, grass cutting, and debris removal.
Remove snow and ice from roadways and shoulders, and apply anti-icing/de-icing chemicals as needed.
Inspect and prepare winter equipment before storms and perform post-storm cleanup.
Document snow and ice data for inventory and resource management.
Requirements
One year of experience in snow and ice, soils, road surface maintenance, roadside maintenance, bridge maintenance, signs, or related activities.
A valid MN Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tanker endorsement.
Ability to upgrade to a CDL Class A with tanker endorsement within 30 days of hire.
Working knowledge of English sufficient for communication and record-keeping.
Qualifications
Transportation Generalist: Completion of a Heavy Equipment Operation and Maintenance Program (at least 60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits).
Transportation Associate: Commercial Driver's Permit with no air brake restrictions, tanker endorsement, and ability to obtain a Class A CDL within 3 months of hire.
Skills
Strong communication skills.
Proficiency in English.
Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience with traffic control and winter maintenance operations.

Pay
Transportation Associate: $23.57 - $24.98 / hourly; $49,214 - $50,697 / annually.
Transportation Generalist: $25.19 - $31.60 / hourly; $52,597 - $65,981 / annually.
Schedule
Summer hours: Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (4-10’s).
Winter hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
