Teller - Call Center Financial Service Officer

About the role
We are seeking a motivated individual to grow with our organization. This role involves handling incoming calls from members to take orders, answer inquiries, handle complaints, troubleshoot problems, and provide information. A key responsibility is cross-selling credit union products and services, especially lending products. The role also includes performing a variety of paying and receiving functions, such as processing deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, cashier's checks, money orders, and cash advances, as well as balancing daily transactions.
Responsibilities
- Interview member loan applicants to gather information about their loan needs, earnings, and financial condition (5%).
- Prepare and/or review all loan documents for completeness and accuracy; explain loan options to members (5%).
- Respond to member inquiries both telephonically and via email in a professional and friendly manner; resolve complaints in a timely manner (70%).
- Identify cross-selling opportunities and participate in sales development activities, which may occur outside normal working hours.
- Assist members with opening and closing accounts, answer questions about products and services, and resolve problems within your authority (5%).
- Process member financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, money orders, and cashier's checks; balance cash drawer and daily transactions (5%).
- Welcome members, provide routine information, and direct them to appropriate departments (5%).
- Ensure compliance with terms and conditions on current loans and accounts; stay informed of current trends and laws on lending, consumer credit, and various accounts (5%).
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned (5%).
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent.
- Six months to two years of similar or related experience.
- Knowledge of teller policies and procedures, credit union operations, financial services, and loan services.
- Understanding of related legal and regulatory standards and required loan documentation.
- Proficiency in operating related computer applications, calculators, typewriters, printers, telephones, and notary stamps.
- Strong analytical, financial, typing, and math skills.
- Excellent interviewing, communication, and public relations skills; Spanish speaking is a plus.
- Professional appearance and attitude.

- Visual Abilities: Average visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or operate machinery.
- Physical Strength: Exerts up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. frequently; alternates between standing and sitting throughout the shift.
- Reasoning Ability: Apply logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions; interpret technical instructions and deal with multiple variables.
- Mathematics Ability: Compute discount, interest, profit and loss, commission, markup, selling price, ratio, proportion, and percentage; perform simple algebra.
- Language Ability: Use a vocabulary of 5,000-6,000 words; read at a slow rate; define unfamiliar words; write complex sentences; communicate in complex sentences using normal word order and tenses. Bilingual is a plus.
