About the role

This position reports daily to the Beef Processing Plant and is responsible for overseeing the production of all meat products made for the state prison system. The role abides by H.A.C.C.P. guidelines and involves training and supervising inmate workers. The position maintains documentation for smokehouse temperatures, weight tracking on meat usage, and daily, weekly, and monthly reports.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited senior high school or possession of an equivalent GED
• Experience in meat processing operations or packing plant operations
• Eighteen months of full-time, wage-earning experience in meat processing or packing plant operations (for a "great fit")
• Correctional custody or law enforcement experience (for a "great fit")
• Experience supervising inmates, demonstrating ability to maintain safety, structure, and accountability in a correctional environment (for a "great fit")

Additional Information

• Travel required: 25% (may spend 15 nights away per month)
• Pre-Service Training Academy required
• Hazardous Duty/Longevity position
• Outside applicants will be required to submit to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment
