About the role
The Veterans Service Center Manager (VSCM) oversees the Veterans Service Center, providing information and assistance to Veterans and their dependents regarding benefits under VA and other agencies. The VSCM directs the center's operations and coordinates with other VA divisions and external organizations.
Responsibilities
- Administers and manages the Veterans Service Center, providing information and assistance to Veterans and their dependents.
- Directs and supervises the administration, control, and direction of VA's compensation and pension programs through a team of Service Center Supervisors.
- Serves as liaison with civic and Veterans' organizations to coordinate efforts and enhance cooperation with VA.
- Ensures equal opportunities for all Veterans Service Center employees and supports Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) goals.
- Manages the budgetary controls and expenditures for the Veterans Service Center.
- Responds to Congressional, White House, and other special inquiries concerning VA benefits.
Requirements
Specialized experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level or higher. The experience must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of laws, regulations, and Federal legislation pertaining to Veteran's benefits, and a comprehensive understanding of state, federal, and local benefit programs.
Qualifications
- Time-in-grade requirement: You must have served 52 weeks at the GS-13 level or higher.
- Education: No educational substitution is available at this grade level.
