About the Role

The Production Supervisor oversees the transformation of raw materials into finished goods and the packaging of all products in accordance with company and customer requirements. This role supervises production employees and temporary staff during an assigned shift, ensuring safe and efficient operations, effective shift execution, and strict adherence to quality and production standards within a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Executes the daily production schedule during the assigned shift to meet output goals and customer requirements.
  • Communicates with incoming and outgoing shifts to ensure smooth transitions and continuity of operations.
  • Oversees the flow of raw materials and finished goods between the production floor and shipping, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitors and maintains inventory records, investigates discrepancies, and reports issues as needed.
  • Coordinates the staging and distribution of components required for production and packaging.
  • Delegates work orders to appropriate work centers and oversees timely and accurate execution.
  • Supervises shift personnel, monitors attendance, tracks unscheduled hours, and ensures proper timekeeping practices.
  • Enters and maintains attendance records in the system and follows up on absences.
  • Trains and supports production employees to meet performance, safety, and quality expectations.
  • Identifies and supports initiatives that improve production efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance sustainability efforts.
  • Collaborates on cross-functional projects and supports departmental goals.
  • Assists with additional responsibilities and projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing, packaging, or related environment (preferred).
  • Experience working in a 24/7 manufacturing environment (a plus).
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices (e.g., OSHA).
  • Basic math and computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with timekeeping or ERP systems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to analyze production data and use metrics to drive improvements.
  • Effective conflict resolution and employee relations skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret production orders, work instructions, and technical documents.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.
  • Experience with quality control processes and maintaining compliance with customer standards.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to occasionally carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to ambulate or stand eight hours a day.
  • Frequent use of upper extremities to perform keyboard functions and work on a computer.
  • Ability to operate a pallet jack.
