Working Title: Prize Payments Supervisor

In this role, you will supervise a dedicated team responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of Lottery prize payments. Your leadership will help support our mission to provide supplemental funding for California’s public schools and colleges.

In fiscal year 2023-24, the California Lottery generated sales of more than $9.2 billion with approximately $2.2 billion earned for California public schools. Lottery products are sold at more than 23,000 retail locations throughout the state, from independent neighborhood shops to convenience stores, liquor stores to supermarkets, and more. Retail product offerings include an average of 52 fun and entertaining Scratchers® games and several draw games, including jackpot games such as Powerball®, Mega Millions®, and SuperLotto Plus® and daily games such as Fantasy 5 and Hot Spot®.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train staff in prize payment processing.
• Monitor workloads and adjust schedules to meet deadlines.
• Review, edit, and provide feedback on staff work.

Requirements

• Current Supervising Program Technician II exam eligibility (or ability to obtain it).
• No felony or gambling-related offense convictions (per the California State Lottery Act).
• Must clear a background investigation prior to hire.
• Must obtain access approval from the Franchise Tax Board (FTB) for the offset portal system.
• If basing eligibility on education, provide transcripts and/or diploma (foreign transcripts require an evaluation indicating equivalent units).

Pay

$4,375.00 - $5,482.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Schedule

Permanent, full-time position. In-office work at Sacramento headquarters; not eligible for telework.

Effective July 1, 2025, specific bargaining units and associated excluded state employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% - 4.62% in exchange for personal leave hours each month.
