Substation Physical Designer

About the role

Seeking an experienced Substation Physical Designer to develop and review complex drawings and plans for substations and distribution packages using AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Create substation layouts, single-line diagrams, schematics, and control building designs up to 500 kV
• Develop distribution designs up to 34.5 kV
• Standardize CAD processes and maintain databases of tools and equipment
• Utilize automated design for material lists
• Perform quality control on drawings and plans
• Supervise CAD staff as needed
• Contribute to engineering improvements

Requirements

• High School Diploma or higher in Drafting, Design Technology, or related field
• 4+ years of CAD design experience in substations
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Bluebeam
• Knowledge of electrical systems and HV substation equipment
• Strong organizational skills and experience creating CAD tools/databases

Skills

• Familiarity with MicroStation, Civil3D, Revit, PLS-CADD, or PLS-POLE (preferred)
