About the role
Seeking a Substation Physical Designer with 4+ years of experience to support high- and medium-voltage substation projects for utility, renewable energy, and industrial clients. This non-remote role involves developing physical layouts, equipment arrangements, grounding, lightning protection, and construction drawings while collaborating with multiple disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Perform conceptual and detailed substation physical/electrical designs, including layouts, wiring diagrams, and grounding systems.
- Conduct engineering studies and calculations.
- Perform quality control reviews.
- Lead projects with limited guidance.
- Create and review bills of materials and project proposals.
- Support professional development of junior team members.
- Communicate effectively with teams and clients to meet project goals.
Requirements
- 4+ years of relevant substation design experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Inventor.
- Experience with grounding, lightning protection, and lighting studies.
- Preferred: Associate's degree in engineering or drafting.
