Substation Physical Designer

About the role

Seeking a Substation Physical Designer with 4+ years of experience to support high- and medium-voltage substation projects for utility, renewable energy, and industrial clients. This non-remote role involves developing physical layouts, equipment arrangements, grounding, lightning protection, and construction drawings while collaborating with multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Perform conceptual and detailed substation physical/electrical designs, including layouts, wiring diagrams, and grounding systems.
• Conduct engineering studies and calculations.
• Perform quality control reviews.
• Lead projects with limited guidance.
• Create and review bills of materials and project proposals.
• Support professional development of junior team members.
• Communicate effectively with teams and clients to meet project goals.

Requirements

• 4+ years of relevant substation design experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Inventor.
• Experience with grounding, lightning protection, and lighting studies.
• Preferred: Associate's degree in engineering or drafting.
