About the Role
A Designer for Substation Physical Design is responsible for performing physical design tasks, creating detailed documentation, and providing technical guidance and mentoring to CAD staff.
Responsibilities
- Execute physical design with minimal input, ensuring drawings meet project goals and quality standards.
- Develop detailed design documentation and suggest improvements based on initial designs.
- Lead or mentor lower-level CAD operators, providing guidance and oversight.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, handle complex issues, and adapt to scope changes.
- Possess extensive knowledge of AutoCAD and 3D modeling; experience in detailed high voltage substation design is preferred.
- Ensure deliverables adhere to CAD standards, data management procedures, and project timelines.
Requirements
- Associate Degree from an accredited technical program or equivalent experience.
- 5-10+ years of related experience in physical design or CAD work.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, 3D modeling, and technical analysis.
- Strong resource management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, mentor others, and handle shifting priorities.
Physical & General Characteristics
- Ability to work indoors, sit for extended periods, and handle office equipment.
- Visual acuity for detailed work.
- Physical ability to lift up to 20 pounds and travel as needed.
- Seeking continuous improvement in technical skills and project development.
