About the role
The Employment Development Department (EDD) is seeking a Staff Tax Auditor to conduct in-state and out-of-state audits and investigations of large employers with complex accounting systems. This position is based in Santa Fe Springs, CA and may offer limited telework.
Responsibilities
- Conduct audits and investigations of large employers with complex accounting systems
- Identify and develop audit leads for out-of-state and local Area Audit Offices (AAO)
- Serve as the Department's audit and compliance representative in an out-stationed office or headquarters setting
- Develop guidelines, training courses, and assist in formulating policy and procedures for the Employment Tax Program
- May serve as a lead person in audit activities
Requirements
- Current California resident
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Experience conducting audits and investigations of large employers with complex accounting systems
- Ability to travel to various locations within California
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in tax auditing or related field
- Knowledge of payroll tax laws and regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
