TAX AUDITOR, EMPLOYMENT DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

About the role

The Employment Development Department (EDD) is seeking two Field Tax Auditor positions in the San Bernardino Area Audit Office. This role involves conducting payroll tax audits and investigations for California-based companies.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-person audits and investigations for California-based companies.
• Review employer records to reconcile payroll taxes, determine worker classification, and ensure correct payment reporting.
• Prepare detailed audit reports and discuss findings with business owners and representatives.
• Interact with business owners and representatives to understand their operations and internal controls.
• Interview workers and contractors to determine proper classification and gather relevant information to reconcile taxes.
• Attend meetings and participate in branch and division-sponsored trainings.

Requirements

To be considered, applicants must take and pass the Tax Auditor, EDD exam. Candidates must reside in California to telecommute and must be willing to travel to headquarters as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in payroll tax auditing or similar field.
• Knowledge of California Unemployment Insurance Code, California Code of Regulations, Title 22, California Labor Code, and California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board decisions.
• Ability to interact with business owners and representatives.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Pay

$4,695.00 - $6,173.00 A, $5,805.00 - $7,632.00 B
