About the role

The Employment Development Department (EDD) is one of the largest State departments with employees at hundreds of service locations. For more than 70 years, the EDD has connected millions of job seekers and employers in an effort to build the economy of the Golden State. This position is located in Sacramento County and offers a hybrid work schedule, with the amount of telework at the discretion of the department and subject to change as business needs arise.

Responsibilities

• Complete less difficult obstructed claim investigations resulting from requests for reconsideration of the Department's initial computation of Unemployment Insurance (UI) and Disability Insurance (DI) benefits.
• Investigate issues related to employer protests to the Notice of Wages Used on UI Claim (DE 1545).
• Communicate with employers, claimants, or Department staff to secure wage information and maintain employer accounts to ensure the integrity of the UI Trust Fund.
• Represent the Department at Wage and Benefit Hearings before the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board Administrative Law Judge.
• Adapt to frequent workload changes based on organizational workload priorities.

Work will be conducted at the EDD office in Rancho Cordova and remotely. Free parking is available.

Requirements

• Apply accounting education and experience to perform tax auditing duties.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing workload priorities.

Qualifications

This is an entry and training-level position. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Pay

• Range A: $4,695.00 - $6,173.00 per month
• Range B: $5,805.00 - $7,632.00 per month

Effective July 1, 2025, specific Bargaining Units and associated Excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% - 4.62% in exchange for hours in the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025).

Schedule

• Work Shift: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• Work Week: Monday - Friday

This is a permanent, full-time position.
