About the Role

At Texas Sports Academy, your next arena is shaping champions, not by standing on the sidelines, but by actively coaching and pushing students to break through their limits every day. You won't just share your story. You'll translate elite athletic discipline into actionable motivation techniques, teach resilience through hands-on workshops, and run high-energy practices where every student is held to championship standards.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Leading proactive 1:1 motivation sessions where you translate your athletic discipline into specific, actionable coaching strategies
  • Running high-energy morning kickoffs that engage the entire student body
  • Facilitating hands-on life skill workshops where you actively coach students through resilience, leadership, and goal-setting exercises
  • Running structured afternoon athletic practices that model championship values: designing drills, pushing effort, correcting form, and teaching grit and teamwork through sport (not just supervising play)
  • Proactively engaging with every student throughout the day: circulating during independent learning time, jumping in to motivate when you see a student stuck, and creating teachable moments that drive breakthrough thinking

What You Won't Be Doing

  • Standing on the sidelines as a passive observer: this is not a ceremonial coaching role. You're on the floor, actively engaging with students, running sessions, and intervening in real-time.
  • Teaching traditional academic subjects or following a curriculum: students learn via adaptive apps. Your role is life coaching, motivation, and teaching meta-skills through sport and mentorship.

Sports Performance Coach Key Responsibilities

The Elite Guide role puts you in charge of helping Austin-based student-athletes become high-performing learners and leaders by turning elite athletic discipline into daily motivation, life-skills coaching, and structured sports-based practice in a high-standard school environment.

  • Own daily student motivation by reviewing progress, spotting blockers, and coaching students toward clear academic and personal goals.
  • Lead energetic morning kickoffs that set a focused, competitive tone for the school day.
  • Run life-skills workshops that teach resilience, leadership, discipline, and follow-through through stories, reflection, and active student participation.
  • Deliver structured afternoon athletic sessions where drills, practice, and competition reinforce grit, teamwork, and high standards.
  • Use student progress data and daily observation to intervene quickly when a student is stuck, disengaged, or falling short of expectations.

Basic Requirements

  • Former elite athletes who have proven themselves at the very top of sport — Olympians, World Champions, pro players in the NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS, or NHL, or NCAA Division I All-Americans
  • Bachelor's degree in any subject
  • Proven experience using sport to mentor and coach life skills
  • Demonstrated motivational leadership in athletic, academic, or professional settings
  • Legal right to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
  • Willing to live in or relocate to Austin, TX
