Retail Counter Sales/Back up Driver (CDL w/Hazmat)

About the role

We are hiring for a Retail Counter Sales/Back up Driver in Arcata, CA. This dynamic hybrid role puts you at the front lines of our business, blending your driving expertise with your passion for customer service.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships with customers, understanding their unique needs and guiding them to the right products.
• Engage in inside sales, helping customers assess their needs, providing quotes, and finding the perfect solution.
• Ensure the smooth operation of the store by organizing merchandise, processing sales, and maintaining a positive customer experience.
• Step in as a reliable backup driver when a regular driver is unavailable, delivering essential gases and welding products safely and efficiently.

Requirements

• Valid CA Commercial Driver’s License with Hazmat and Airbrake endorsements (or able to obtain within 60 days).
• One (1) year of prior Class A or B professional driving experience within the last five (5) years, with a clean driving record (no more than two (2) convictions or two (2) at-fault accidents in the last three years, or a combination of one (1) conviction and one (1) at-fault accident).
• Able to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and use material handling equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to learn and effectively navigate through the sales platform, SAP.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Forklift experience.
• Touch freight delivery experience.
• Fabrication or Welding experience/knowledge helpful but not mandatory.
