About the role

We are hiring a Counter Sales Associate/Backup CDL Driver in Clarksville, TN. The position involves safe handling of high-pressure and cryogenic gas cylinders, sales, customer support, operations, logistics, inventory management, and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Taking pride in the safe loading, delivery, and handling of high-pressure and cryogenic gas cylinders while adhering to hazardous material safety standards and DOT vehicle inspections.
  • Selling industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding supplies, and related equipment to both new and existing customers.
  • Assisting customers via email, telephone, and in-person walk-ins, providing guidance on equipment usage and material requirements.
  • Managing the loading and unloading of cylinders, operating forklifts, and serving as a backup driver when necessary.
  • Maintaining proper hardgoods and cylinder levels to prevent supply emergencies.
  • Managing accounts receivable, discussing past-due accounts, and collecting payments.
  • Affirmatively completing all paperwork, including coding, costing, and pricing.

Requirements

  • Valid Class A or B Driver's License.
  • Valid Medical Examiner’s Card.
  • Hazmat Endorsement or ability to obtain the endorsement within 60 days of being hired.
  • At least 21 years old.
  • One (1) year of prior Class A professional driving experience within the last five (5) years.
  • Successful completion of Airgas Background and Motor Vehicle Check.
  • DOT Clearinghouse verification from previous employers is required.
  • Ability to routinely lift or move around 25 – 75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 100 lbs.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in changing temperatures.
  • Ability to maintain a drug-free workplace.
  • Adherence to safety regulations and policies.
  • Flexible to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Forklift Experience.
  • Touch freight delivery experience preferred.

Skills

  • Customer service skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials and DOT regulations.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and report generation.
