Retail Counter Sales/Back Up Driver (CDL w/Hazmat)

About the role

We are hiring for a Retail Counter Sales/Back up Driver in Farmington, NM. This position involves selling medical, industrial, and specialty gases, welding equipment, and hard goods to customers. You will support and guide both walk-in and phone-in customers, ensuring their needs are met with excellent service. You will also contribute to our delivery operations by operating a 20-ton truck loaded with compressed gas cylinders, liquid cylinders, and goods for delivery to customers.

Responsibilities

• Sell medical, industrial, and specialty gases, welding equipment, and hard goods to customers
• Support and guide walk-in and phone-in customers
• Contribute to delivery operations by operating a 20-ton truck loaded with compressed gas cylinders, liquid cylinders, and goods
• Ensure the store runs smoothly by organizing merchandise and processing sales
• Maintain a welcoming and professional showroom environment
• Be a reliable backup driver when a regular driver is out

Requirements

• Valid NM Commercial Driver’s License with Hazmat and Airbrake endorsements
• One (1) year of prior Class A or B professional driving experience within the last five (5) years and a clean driving record
• One (1) year of CDL driving experience in the last 5 years or be able to provide proof of a certificate of completion from trucking school completed in the last 12 months
• At least 21 years old
• Able to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and move more than 125 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment
• Able to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines
• Ability to obtain a forklift operator certification
• Minimum of two (2) years of related product and sales experience or training
• Minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated proficiency in computer use, including data entry and integrated business platforms

Qualifications

• Familiarity with sales platforms or the ability to quickly learn new systems like SAP or any other CRM experience or basic knowledge in computer order entry system is preferred
• Strong background in the gas, welding, and safety supply industry or chemical industry preferred

$26 per hour
