Respiratory Therapist Extern PRN

About the role

Under the guidance of the Team Leader and/or Supervisor of Respiratory Care, the Respiratory Therapist Extern (PRN) will serve as a member of the healthcare team by providing assistance with caring for the appropriate patient population at Medical City Dallas, an 895‑plus‑bed tertiary care center with a full‑service adult and pediatric hospital, separate emergency rooms, outpatient clinics, and diagnostic centers.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care, including electrocardiograms and non‑invasive therapy, as ordered by physicians and according to established standards and practices.
• Clean, disinfect, and store respiratory therapy equipment.
• Restock respiratory therapy supplies.
• Perform delegated tasks and data collection taught and verified during the educational program.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in, or have completed, an accredited school of respiratory care.
• Obtain CRT/RRT credential within 180 days of hire (CRT, RRT, or RPFT by NBRC).
• Perform delegated tasks and data collection as taught and verified in the course of study.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
