About the role

Provides clinical and operational leadership as a Respiratory Therapist, serving as a resource and role model. Delivers expert patient care, mentors staff in advanced technical skills, and advocates for appropriate therapy. Manages shift assignments, workflow, and staffing needs using EMR reports, ensuring safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties of a Registered Respiratory Therapist and basic shift leader functions.
• Coordinates staffing, ensures standardized handoffs, and escalates safety concerns.
• Participates in safety event reporting, research, and process improvement.
• Assists with staff orientation, technical competency, and training.
• Contributes to performance improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy; Bachelor’s preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of RT experience, including 1 year in critical care.
• Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner, with NBRC RRT credential.
• Certifications: BLS, AARC membership, and other unit-specific credentials.

Skills

• Proficiency in respiratory therapy practices and patient care equipment.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards, patient rights, and safety protocols.
• Ability to assess patient data and provide population-specific care.
• Strong leadership, critical thinking, and communication skills.
