Registered Nurse (RN) - Observation Unit - Days
Compensation ranges from $27.84 to $45.46 per hour based on previous work experience. Additional differentials: $2.50/hr for evening shifts, $3.00/hr for night shifts, and $3.00/hr for weekend shifts.

About the Unit
Our Med/Surg Observation Unit is a fast-paced, 24-bed telemetry/medical-surgical unit. Common patient conditions include chest pain, syncope, congestive heart failure, pneumonia, and diabetes. The nurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 4 to 6 patients depending on acuity. The care team includes a charge nurse, unit assistants, and support from respiratory, lab, and case management departments.
New nurses receive a 6-8 week orientation program with a dedicated preceptor team, complemented by classroom courses and a nurse residency program for new graduates.
Responsibilities
- Systematically assess and reassess the healthcare needs of individuals, involving patients, families, and other healthcare providers as appropriate
- Analyze assessments to determine nursing diagnoses and expected outcomes
- Provide nursing care through interventions to achieve goals using professional judgment guided by evidence-based practice, regulations, and policy
- Evaluate patient outcomes using critical thinking and evidence-based knowledge
- Evaluate discharge needs related to the plan of care, utilizing resources as needed
Requirements
- Diploma or Associate’s degree (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred
- Previous hospital experience preferred (equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
- Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) training (required during orientation prior to providing patient care and maintained throughout employment)
New graduates are required to complete Norman Regional's Nurse Residency Program.
