About the role

The RN Float provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. This position also performs House Supervisor responsibilities as needed to meet the needs of the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Maintains patient records and documents patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Affords assistance to patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • Determines, coordinates, and supervises daily staffing assignments and levels.
  • Provides direction, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff.
  • Participates in performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
  • Evaluates quality of services delivered and facilitates staff development programs.
  • Ensures staff compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Performs or assists with staff responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels.
  • Manages and resolves complex issues and complaints.

Requirements

  • Current RN license to practice in the state of (WV).
  • BCLS certification.
  • ACLS and PALS certifications per unit specific requirements.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing Required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred.

  • Comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Skilled in the application of policies and procedures.
