Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice across multiple inpatient units.
- Demonstrates flexibility to float where needed and collaborate with interprofessional teams to support safe, high-quality care.
- Performs plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and related medical care.
- Documents care provided in a timely, accurate manner.
- Maintains patient comfort and safety by monitoring, recording, and communicating patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
- Affords assistance with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
- Displays initiative and flexibility to float throughout the building to support departments and staff.
- Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, psychosocial/spiritual support).
- Assesses learning needs; provides age- and culture-appropriate patient/family education.
- Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
- Participates in performance improvement and required education; works other shifts/units as needed and may take on-call assignments.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in nursing required, bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
- 1- 2 years minimum bedside RN experience required; 2- 4 years critical care experience preferred.
- Current RN license in state of practice.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- BCLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred; Handle with Care preferred.
Qualifications
- Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in stressful environments.
- Ability to quickly learn and navigate multiple clinical software systems.
- Effective English communication (read, write, speak, and understand).
- Ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to successfully complete a Cardiac Rhythms Test within 30 days of hire.
