Registered Cardiac Invasive Tech (RCIS)
About the role
Performs specialized diagnostic/therapeutic cardiac procedures according to departmental protocol as requested by physician order. Assists Cardiologists and other physicians as required. Maintains established organization and department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assessment and safety. Identifies care needs of patients/significant others and implements interventions and utilizes equipment necessary to meet the specific needs of the patient population served (young adults, middle adults, late adults). Reports to and is supervised by the Nurse-in-Charge of the Cardiac Cath Lab under the direction of the Director of the Cardiac Cath Lab. Location: Silver Spring, MD. Responsibilities
- Perform specialized diagnostic/therapeutic cardiac procedures per departmental protocol and physician orders.
- Assist Cardiologists and other physicians as required.
- Apply excellent knowledge of radiographic, cardiac, and peripheral vascular anatomy.
- Operate a wide variety of specialized radiographic equipment/technical instruments including pressure injectors, digital imaging, and patient monitoring equipment.
- Select appropriate catheters and guide-wires for specific procedures.
- Maintain department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assessment, and safety standards.
- Implement radiation safety procedures to minimize exposure to patients, co-workers, and self; use shielding materials and patient restraint devices.
