Schedule
Monday through Friday, 07:00 AM – 17:30 PM (10-hour shifts, 4 days per week).
Responsibilities
- Assists in teaching and orientation of students and new staff.
- Acts as a monitor tech during invasive cardiovascular procedures by interpreting basic and advanced dysrhythmia and EKGs, operating physiologic recorders, and interpreting normal and abnormal pressures and waveforms.
- Serves as a scrub tech for most procedures, operating imaging equipment under physician direction.
- Functions as a circulator for some diagnostic procedures, monitoring patient status, assisting the scrub tech, and operating imaging equipment.
- Transports patients to and from the department.
- Cleans and stocks the cath lab, including ordering supplies and maintaining inventory.
- Demonstrates knowledge of medications and dosages used in procedures.
- Prepares the lab for procedures by setting up equipment and maintaining sterile technique.
- Prepares patients for procedures by shaving, prepping, and marking arterial pulses.
- Removes arterial and/or venous sheaths post-procedure, maintains hemostasis, and monitors patient status.
- Troubleshoots equipment problems.
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree with a science emphasis, or commensurate healthcare experience.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardio Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- RCIS certification required within six months of hire.
- ARRT and Texas RT(R) certification accepted in lieu of RCIS.
