Interventional Cardiovascular Technologist RCIS

Responsibilities

  • Under direct supervision of the physician, prepares patients, assembles and operates hemodynamic and electrophysiologic equipment during interventional and diagnostic procedures.
  • Comforts patients by welcoming them to the cardiology suite, answering their questions, and responding to requests.
  • Completes electro-cardiograms (EKGs or ECGs) by attaching electrodes to the patient’s chest, arms, and legs.
  • Completes treadmill stress tests by connecting patients to EKG monitors.
  • Completes non-invasive peripheral vascular tests by collecting ultrasound echoes to form a screen image of the heart function, blood flow, and circulation.
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following asepsis standards.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Registers patients by entering anticipated service data into the patient record and verifying medical history.
  • Supports physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular ailments with the use of a catheter.
  • Assists physician in performing invasive procedures and performs related radiographic/fluoroscopic imaging techniques to demonstrate catheter location, position, and document findings.
  • Maintains a well-stocked and clean work environment.
  • Works collaboratively with the Cath Lab team to promote wellness and optimize patient outcomes and quality care.

Requirements

  • Must be able to provide proof of authorization to work in the US.
  • Works well in teams.
  • Can maintain composure during stress.
  • Good bedside manner.
  • Comfortable presenting technical data.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of work experience preferred.
  • Active cardiovascular technologist license in NJ.
  • Diploma in Cardiovascular Technology from a University, Bachelor’s degree in cardiovascular technology, or an undergraduate certificate in cardiovascular technology.
