This position is located at Fort Leonard Wood, Aquatics. The announcement is open continuously until 11/09/2026 or until the position is filled. Weekly reviews and candidate lists will be sent to management starting 24 AUG 2026.

This job is open to U.S. Citizens, Nationals, or those who owe allegiance to the U.S. Non-U.S. Nationals must have resided in the U.S. or U.S. territory for three or more continuous years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a water safety instructor.
  • Manages all swimming lessons and instructs when scheduled.
  • Develops swim programs according to students' ability and promotes students to higher levels based on their skills.
  • Instructs all levels of swimming and appropriate strokes, including front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke, and butterfly.
  • Introduces and instructs safety and survival skills to students, appropriate to their level of instruction.
  • Works with lifeguards to ensure swim lessons are safe at all times.
  • Teaches students from age groups of infants through adults.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
  • Must meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Must satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, Chapter 2, including a medical examination and Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
  • Must be willing and able to work varying shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • May be subject to additional background checks if required to have regular and recurring contact with children.

Qualifications

Resumes must be two pages or less and clearly demonstrate relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities as they pertain to this position. A qualified candidate must possess the following:

  • Water Safety Instructor Certification
  • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification
  • First Aid Certification
  • Lifeguard Certification is highly desirable (Certificates issued by American Red Cross, Ellis @ Associates, Star Guard, or other nationally recognized agencies are acceptable and MUST be uploaded at the time of application).
