Recreation Assistant (Water Safety Instructor) NF-02.
About the Role
Manages all swimming lessons and instructs when scheduled at the assigned aquatics facility. Develops swim programs tailored to students' abilities and promotes students to higher levels based on their skills.
Responsibilities
- Instruct all levels of swimming, including front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke, and butterfly.
- Teach students across age groups, from infants to adults.
- Introduce and instruct safety and survival skills appropriate to the level of instruction.
- Collaborate with lifeguards to ensure swim lessons are conducted safely at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
- Must meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements for the position.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Must satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Subject to pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para. 2.
- May require a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
- Additional background checks may be required due to regular and recurring contact with children.
- Must be able to work a schedule that includes weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must successfully complete all required background checks, including a health screening, with annual health screenings required throughout employment.
- All local background checks will be re-verified every 5 years.
- Pre-employment physical required; must have a current health assessment documenting good physical health and freedom from communicable disease per current Army Policy.
Qualifications
Resumes must clearly demonstrate relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities for this position. A qualified candidate must possess:
- Work experience related to the duties described above.
- Water Safety Instructor Certification.
- Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- First Aid Certification.
Certificates must be issued by the American Red Cross, Ellis @ Associates, Star Guard, or other nationally recognized agencies and submitted at the time of application.
Candidates possessing the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified":
- Lifeguard Certification (must be submitted at the time of application).
