Recreation Assistant (Water Safety Instructor) NF-02.
About the Role
Acts as a water safety instructor, managing and instructing all swimming lessons as scheduled. Develops swim programs tailored to students' abilities and promotes students to higher levels based on their skills.
Responsibilities
- Instruct all levels of swimming, including front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke, and butterfly.
- Introduce and teach safety and survival skills appropriate to the students' level of instruction.
- Collaborate with lifeguards to ensure swim lessons are conducted safely at all times.
- Teach students across all age groups, from infants to adults.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
- Must meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements for the position.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactory completion of an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Completion of all pre-employment checks, including a medical examination and Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card.
- Willingness and ability to work varying shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- May be subject to additional background checks if required to have regular and recurring contact with children.
Qualifications
Resumes must clearly demonstrate relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities. A qualified candidate must possess the following certifications (issued by the American Red Cross, Ellis @ Associates, Star Guard, or other nationally recognized agencies):
- Water Safety Instructor Certification
- Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- First Aid Certification
- Lifeguard Certification (highly desirable)
Certifications must be uploaded at the time of application. This position does not have an education qualification requirement.

Pay
This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
Schedule
Varying shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
