Recreation Assistant (Riding Instructor) NF-02.

Duties

• Instructs patrons of a recreational facility in horsemanship, applying practical knowledge of equestrian activities.
• Affords assistance with individual rentals, boarding, group events such as pony circles, organized trail rides, youth horse camp and special public events.
• Promotes interest in programming by making presentations to units, schools and interfacing with other recreation activities.
• Monerities activities for services to determine the budget process for financial accountability of the program.
• Conducts riding lessons, organizing group events and horse camp for children.
• May assist with feeding, care of horses, basic maintenance repairs of riding equipment, and trail rides.
• May operate vehicle to deliver horses to special events.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Conditions of employment: Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required. Meets qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. Satisfactorily completes an employment verification (E-Verify) check. Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Childcare Tier 1 background investigation and a medical examination. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license. Must be willing and able to lift and carry up to 70 pounds. Must be able and willing to mount and ride horses without assistance or mounting block. This position has critical safety or security responsibilities and as such has been designated as a testing designated position (TDP). As a condition of employment, incumbent of a TDP is subject to preemployment and random drug tests. Must be willing to accept a flexible appointment.

Qualifications

• Resumes must be two pages (or less).
• Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.
• A Qualified Candidate Must Possess The Following: Must possess at least six (6) months of work experience that includes the following duties: assist with individual rentals, boarding, group events (e.g. pony circles, organized trail rides, etc.); assist with feeding, care of horses, basic maintenance repairs of riding equipment, etc. Work experience in a customer service focused environment.
• In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": One (1) year or more experience in instructing riding skills in both English and Western pleasure.

This job does not have an education qualification requirement.

Area of Consideration: This job is open to candidates who reside within 80 miles of Fort Huachuca. (Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration.)
