About the role

This position is located at MWR Buffalo Corral Riding Stables on Fort Huachuca, AZ.

Responsibilities

• Helps instruct patrons in horsemanship, applying practical knowledge of equestrian activities.
• Aids with individual rentals, boarding, group events such as pony circles, organized trail rides, youth horse camp and special public events.
• Promotes interest in programming by making presentations to units, schools, and interfacing with other recreation activities.
• Monitors activities for services to determine the budget process for financial accountability of the program.
• Conducts riding lessons, organizes group events and horse camps for children.
• May assist with feeding, caring for horses, basic maintenance repairs of riding equipment, and trail rides.
• May operate a vehicle to deliver horses to special events.

Requirements

• Conditions of employment include direct deposit and Social Security card, meeting qualification/eligibility/background requirements, satisfactory completion of an employment verification (E-Verify) check, satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks, including a Childcare Tier 1 background investigation and a medical examination, possession and maintenance of a valid state driver's license, ability and willingness to lift and carry up to 70 pounds, ability and willingness to mount and ride horses without assistance or mounting block, and subject to preemployment and random drug tests.
• The position has critical safety or security responsibilities and as such has been designated as a testing designated position (TDP).
• Must be willing and able to travel to on and off post locations for special events as needed.
• Must be willing to accept a flexible appointment.

Qualifications

• At least six (6) months of work experience that includes assisting with individual rentals, boarding, group events, and assisting with feeding, care of horses, basic maintenance repairs of riding equipment.
• Work experience in a customer service focused environment.
