Radiology Technologist Associate - Atrium Health Waxhaw - PRN

Responsibilities

• Performs basic diagnostic x-rays supervised by a radiology technologist.
• Identifies and assists patients with questions about procedures.
• Prepares patients for exam and ensures patient safety in the absence of the radiology technologist.
• Obtains medications, radiopharmaeceuticals, or contrast media materials as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist or registered nurse.
• Aids in the performance of diagnostic exams based on assigned modality and career pursuits (Rad/Fluro, CT, IR, Mammography, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET, Ultrasound).
• Aids physicians and technologists in the performance of diagnostic exams.
• Retrieves patient orders and requisitions while supporting administrative or miscellaneous work tasks in the RIS, EMR, or other standard applications required in the workflow for diagnostic exams.
• Aids patients to restrooms, with bedpans, urinals and other ancillary clinical support needs as required.
• Aids with administrative duties, quality assurance, safety, regulatory, and compliance requirements.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED with preliminary coursework toward a certificate or degree in a medical imaging field.
• Clinical experience based on the educational program affiliated with the pursuit of career in medical imaging.
• Medical clerical skills preferred.
• BLS required.

Qualifications

• Senior/ Rising Senior Radiography program student preferred.
• Requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment and supplies.
• Frequent stretching, bending, twisting, squatting, or kneeling in the daily operation of the assigned clinical area.
• May be exposed to various physical conditions throughout the day such as walking on hard surfaces, climbing stairs, being near moving equipment.
• Uses radiation safety guidelines to prevent exposure to ionizing radiation, MRI safety, and infection control as dictated by the procedural area.

Skills

• Basic diagnostic x-ray skills.
• Ability to assist in patient care and administrative tasks.
• Knowledge of medical imaging procedures and protocols.
• Physical stamina and ability to perform heavy lifting and moving.

Pay

Base compensation listed within the listed pay range based on factors such as qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and/or training. Premium pay such as shift, on call, and more based on a teammate's job. Opportunity for annual increases based on performance.
