Radiology Technologist Associate - Atrium Health Cabarrus - PRN

About the role

Performs a variety of patient care duties and other professional activities as needed to facilitate patient care and treatment. Performs under the supervision of a radiology technologist. Assists in monitoring the flow of patient activities in the department.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic diagnostic x-rays supervised by a radiology technologist.
• Identifies and assists patients with questions about procedures.
• Prepares patients for exam and ensures patient safety in the absence of the radiology technologist.
• Obtains medications, radiopharmaeceuticals, or contrast media materials as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist or registered nurse.
• Aids in the performance of diagnostic exams based on assigned modality and career pursuits (Rad/Fluro, CT, IR, Mammography, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET, Ultrasound).
• Retrieves patient orders and requisitions while supporting administrative or miscellaneous work tasks in the RIS, EMR, or other standard applications required in the workflow for diagnostic exams.
• Aids patients to restrooms, with bedpans, urinals and other ancillary clinical support needs as required.
• Aids with administrative duties, quality assurance, safety, regulatory, and compliance requirements.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED with preliminary coursework toward a certificate or degree in a medical imaging field. Clinical experience based on the educational program affiliated with the pursuit of career in medical imaging; Medical clerical skills preferred. BLS required.

Qualifications

2nd year student/Senior Radiology student preferred.

Skills

Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Ability to follow instructions and work independently. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

Schedule

Evenings and weekends, hours vary. This position is sign on bonus eligible.
