Radiology Technologist Associate - Atrium Health University City - PRN

Essential Functions

• Performs basic diagnostic x-rays supervised by a radiology technologist.
• Identifies and assists patients with questions about procedures.
• Prepares patients for exam and ensures patient safety in the absence of the radiology technologist.
• Obtains medications, radiopharmaeceuticals, or contrast media materials as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist or registered nurse.
• Aids physicians and technologists in the performance of diagnostic exams based on assigned modality and career pursuits (Rad/Fluro, CT, IR, Mammography, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET, Ultrasound).
• Retrieves patient orders and requisitions while supporting administrative or miscellaneous work tasks in the RIS, EMR, or other standard applications required in the workflow for diagnostic exams.
• Affords assistance to patients to restrooms, with bedpans, urinals and other ancillary clinical support needs as required.
• Assists with administrative duties, quality assurance, safety, regulatory, and compliance requirements.

Physical Requirements

• Requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment and supplies.
• Occasional standing, walking, and sitting during normal operation.
• Frequently may be required to stretch, bend twist, squat or kneel in the daily operation of the assigned clinical area.
• May be exposed to various physical conditions throughout the day such as walking on hard surfaces, climbing stairs, being near moving equipment.

Education, Experience And Certifications

• High School Diploma or GED with preliminary coursework toward a certificate or degree in a medical imaging field.
• Clinical experience based on the educational program affiliated with the pursuit of career in medical imaging.
• Medical clerical skills preferred.
• BLS required.
