Responsibilities

  • Oversees and executes day-to-day operations for department ensuring direct reports are following policies and procedures related to employee safety and food/feed safety
  • Partners with Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) and Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory experts to implement the most effective approach for complying with corporate safety policies and procedures
  • Maintains production outcomes, quantity, and quality to ensure customer and food safety requirements are within specifications while providing recommendations for continuous improvements
  • Participates and leads process improvement initiatives including Centerlining, Preventative Maintenance, Pristine, 5S and ELEMEDS (Every Load, Every Mill, Every Day Safely)
  • Develops planning for future production workforce needs and participates in selection of employees
  • Takes counts, corrects discrepancies, and provides corrective actions/investigations to solve for any inventory count outside of variance range in the digital vs physical count

Essential Skills And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or High school diploma/GED equivalent with 4 years of production experience
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience having leadership responsibilities in an industrial environment (milling, agricultural, food production, or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated understanding of safety hazards and protocols
  • Understanding of computerized maintenance management systems
  • Good To Have: Knowledge of maintaining, operating, and troubleshooting packaging equipment and conveying systems; Training in LEAN, Six Sigma, or other manufacturing and warehousing optimization processes; Reliability centered maintenance training around packaging equipment best practices

Physical requirements and working conditions

  • Ability to perform work at a computer and other administrative/managerial tasks
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as is required by the operating areas (i.e. safety glasses, protective footwear, hard hat, hearing protection and, at times, a respirator or a harness)
  • Ability to work a rotating schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Frequent moving/vibration/ or other motion of equipment/processes
  • Elevated Places
