PRN Respiratory Therapist II

About the Role

This position is responsible for delivering advanced respiratory care, medication administration, and patient assessments in critical care settings.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments, verify orders, and administer therapies such as aerosolized medications, oxygen, and medical gases.
• Manage ventilators, including weaning and airway management (intubation, extubation, trach care).
• Conduct arterial blood gas sampling and analysis.
• Provide patient, family, and staff education; mentor and precept new employees and students.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members for comprehensive care planning.
• Ensure quality and safety by promoting accurate documentation, electronic orders, and adherence to safety protocols.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practices.
• Support team environment, promote high-quality patient care, and adhere to organizational policies and standards.

Requirements

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred).
• Certifications: NBRC-RRT, RCP, BLS, and ACLS.
• 0-2 years of clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency with computer systems and databases.
