Responsibilities
- Perform hemodialysis treatment procedures safely and efficiently.
- Provide specialized registered nursing care in accordance with state law.
- Assess patient responses to renal failure and its treatments.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate appropriate care plans for patients.
- Communicate significant information to the appropriate team members.
- Document in a clear, concise, and thorough manner.
- Administer medications correctly and as ordered.
- Obtain and perform routine tests on laboratory specimens.
- Delegates responsibilities appropriately and follows through on delegated tasks.
- Assumes primary nurse responsibilities as directed.
- Assumes responsibility for special unit projects.
- Participates in performance improvement projects.
- Maintains a neat and clean environment.
- Reports errors and near misses to prevent recurrence.
- Ensures the confidentiality of patient, employee, and company information.
- Prepares daily dialysis logs and set-ups for each shift of patients.
- Stocks and orders necessary blood work supplies.
- Participates in self and/or peer evaluations.
- Participates in in-service education programs.
- Assists in the orientation of new staff members.
- Participates in annual QAPI training and other continuing education.
- Contributes to the unit's Quality Assurance Program.
- Participates in IDT and QAPI committees.
- Identifies and reports concerns, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Participates in special unit projects as directed.
