POS Field Tech (Short term role)

About the role
This is a short-term contract opportunity with a maximum duration of 2 months. You will provide onsite technical support across multiple business locations within an assigned territory, delivering high-quality end-user support, resolving technical issues, installing and maintaining IT equipment, and ensuring a positive customer experience through responsive and professional service.
Reliable transportation is required. Candidates must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and the ability to drive up to 50 miles to assigned work locations.
Responsibilities
- Deliver onsite technical support and end-user assistance
- Install, maintain, and repair IT equipment (PCs, laptops, printers, tablets, mobile devices, servers)
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and networking issues
- Perform plug-and-play device installations
- Use ticketing systems to document, track, and manage installs and service requests
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and knowledge management practices
- Escalate issues to higher-level support teams when necessary
- Manage customer expectations according to SLA requirements
- Check in, deliver pictures, and maintain documentation
- Provide status updates to both technical and non-technical customers
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to drive up to 50 miles to assigned work locations
- Experience supporting a wide range of hardware, software, and networking technologies in a field-based environment
- POS/point-of-sale and retail store experience
- Strong troubleshooting and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, client-driven environment
- Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
Skills
- Technical: Hardware repair, basic technical troubleshooting, plug-and-play device installation
- Customer Service & Communication: Strong customer service orientation, ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical users
- Operational: Experience with ticketing systems, following SOPs, knowledge management, issue escalation
- Professional Competencies: Customer focus, drive for results, business acumen, creativity, problem-solving, adaptability
Pay
The rate for this position is between $24.00 and $32.00 per hour. Factors affecting starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
