About the role
The City of Peoria is seeking Parks & Sports Facilities Workers to maintain and improve parks, sports fields, and recreational facilities across various locations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain parks, sports fields, and recreational facilities, including mowing, trimming, and irrigation system upkeep.
- Perform general maintenance tasks such as painting, minor repairs, and equipment operation.
- Set up and take down sports fields and facilities for events and programs.
- Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Assist with landscaping projects, including planting, mulching, and weed control.
- Ensure facilities are clean, safe, and ready for public use.
- Respond to public inquiries and report maintenance issues to supervisors.
- Assist with special events and programs as needed.
Requirements
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, and working in various weather conditions.
- Valid Arizona driver’s license and ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 6 months of hire.
- Basic knowledge of landscaping, irrigation systems, and general maintenance practices.
- Ability to operate maintenance equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and hand tools.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience in parks maintenance, landscaping, or general labor preferred.
- Knowledge of sports field maintenance is a plus.
