About the role

The City of Peoria is seeking Parks & Sports Facilities Workers to maintain and improve parks, sports fields, and recreational facilities across various locations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain parks, sports fields, and recreational facilities, including mowing, trimming, and irrigation system upkeep.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks such as painting, minor repairs, and equipment operation.
  • Set up and take down sports fields and facilities for events and programs.
  • Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with landscaping projects, including planting, mulching, and weed control.
  • Ensure facilities are clean, safe, and ready for public use.
  • Respond to public inquiries and report maintenance issues to supervisors.
  • Assist with special events and programs as needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, and working in various weather conditions.
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license and ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic knowledge of landscaping, irrigation systems, and general maintenance practices.
  • Ability to operate maintenance equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and hand tools.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Previous experience in parks maintenance, landscaping, or general labor preferred.
  • Knowledge of sports field maintenance is a plus.
