About the role
The City of Peoria is seeking a Sports Field Maintenance Worker to perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance, repair, and construction of sports fields, parks, and related facilities.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repair of sports fields, including mowing, edging, fertilizing, aerating, and overseeding.
- Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools, equipment, and vehicles used in grounds maintenance work.
- Prepare fields for games and events, including lining, dragging, and setting up equipment.
- Inspect fields and facilities for safety hazards and perform necessary repairs.
- Assist in the construction and renovation of sports fields, parks, and related facilities.
- Perform irrigation system maintenance, including adjusting sprinkler heads and repairing leaks.
- Maintain records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on tasks.
- Assist with snow removal and other duties as assigned during winter months.
- Provide excellent customer service to the public and respond to inquiries and requests.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- One year of experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or a related field.
- Valid Arizona driver’s license.
- Ability to operate grounds maintenance equipment, including mowers, tractors, and hand tools.
- Knowledge of sports field maintenance techniques and best practices.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Pay
$16.50 - $19.50 per hour, depending on experience.
Schedule
- Full-time position, 40 hours per week.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for events and maintenance.
