About the role

The City of Peoria is seeking a Sports Field Maintenance Worker to perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance, repair, and construction of sports fields, parks, and related facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repair of sports fields, including mowing, edging, fertilizing, aerating, and overseeding.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools, equipment, and vehicles used in grounds maintenance work.
  • Prepare fields for games and events, including lining, dragging, and setting up equipment.
  • Inspect fields and facilities for safety hazards and perform necessary repairs.
  • Assist in the construction and renovation of sports fields, parks, and related facilities.
  • Perform irrigation system maintenance, including adjusting sprinkler heads and repairing leaks.
  • Maintain records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on tasks.
  • Assist with snow removal and other duties as assigned during winter months.
  • Provide excellent customer service to the public and respond to inquiries and requests.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One year of experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or a related field.
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license.
  • Ability to operate grounds maintenance equipment, including mowers, tractors, and hand tools.
  • Knowledge of sports field maintenance techniques and best practices.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Pay

$16.50 - $19.50 per hour, depending on experience.

Schedule

  • Full-time position, 40 hours per week.
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for events and maintenance.
