About the role

Part-time Sports Field Maintenance Worker responsible for the maintenance, preparation, and upkeep of sports fields and related facilities within the City of Peoria.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on sports fields including mowing, edging, trimming, and watering.
• Prepare fields for games and events, including lining, dragging, and setting up equipment.
• Operate and maintain turf maintenance equipment such as mowers, tractors, and aerators.
• Assist with irrigation system maintenance and repairs.
• Perform minor repairs on fences, benches, and other field-related structures.
• Monitor field conditions and report issues such as drainage problems or turf disease.
• Assist with the setup and takedown of sports events, including goalposts, nets, and other equipment.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to operate turf maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
• Basic knowledge of sports field maintenance techniques and irrigation systems.
• Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working in various weather conditions.
• Valid Arizona driver’s license and ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in sports field maintenance, landscaping, or related field is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of turfgrass management and pest control is a plus.

Schedule

• Part-time, up to 20 hours per week.
• Hours vary based on season and event schedules.
