About the role
Part-time Sports Field Maintenance Worker responsible for the maintenance, preparation, and upkeep of sports fields and related facilities within the City of Peoria.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on sports fields including mowing, edging, trimming, and watering.
- Prepare fields for games and events, including lining, dragging, and setting up equipment.
- Operate and maintain turf maintenance equipment such as mowers, tractors, and aerators.
- Assist with irrigation system maintenance and repairs.
- Perform minor repairs on fences, benches, and other field-related structures.
- Monitor field conditions and report issues such as drainage problems or turf disease.
- Assist with the setup and takedown of sports events, including goalposts, nets, and other equipment.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to operate turf maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
- Basic knowledge of sports field maintenance techniques and irrigation systems.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working in various weather conditions.
- Valid Arizona driver’s license and ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 6 months of hire.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in sports field maintenance, landscaping, or related field is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of turfgrass management and pest control is a plus.
Schedule
- Part-time, up to 20 hours per week.
- Hours vary based on season and event schedules.
