PB Gel Coater Plant 1

Summary

Associate is proficient at spraying gel coat on molds that operate within the CMP spray booth or the small parts spray booth. This associate applies gel coat within specified thicknesses and colors free of defects and completes all duties required to maintain the schedule on the specified spray booth. Tasks occur early in a morning shift before the Laminators arrive and continue through the morning.

Responsibilities

• Wear specialized PPE with fresh air breathers while applying material.
• Prime, start-up, operate, and shut down gel coat & catalyst pumps to support daily production.
• Responsible for documentation (ISPCS) for each part.
• Understand gel coat defects and associated root causes.
• Train new Associates in the specific booth.
• Maintain gel booth coverings & filters.
• Assist gel coaters in 4 booths as a hose man.
• Operate a forklift.
• Serve as a Team Leader in training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Ability to complete all technician tasks in the CMP or small parts spray booths.
• General knowledge and understanding of required power tools.
• Ability to execute top-quality work.
• Must pass strength/stress test and drug/alcohol screening contingent to the hiring process.
• Must stand and work in and around boats/molds throughout the entire day.
• Must work efficiently and safely, following all safety regulations at all times.
• Ability to work at heights above four feet.
• Must be clean shaven to wear a close-fitting respirator or unshaven to wear a supplied air respirator.

Education and Experience

Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills

• Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Environment

• Exposure to ambient cold temperatures in winter and heat in summer for short periods.
• Very dusty environment with airborne particulates from cutting, drilling, and grinding.
• Exposure to extremely sharp tooling used for cutting fiberglass.
• Air-supplied hoods and safety glasses are required at all times.

Schedule

Typical 10-hour work days, frequent overtime required.
