Gel Coater
Job Summary
The Gel Coater is responsible for applying gel coat material to fiberglass pool molds to achieve the required surface finish, thickness, and quality standards. This role directly impacts the appearance, durability, and overall quality of the finished pool shell and requires strict adherence to process controls, safety procedures, and quality specifications.
What You Will Do
- Apply gel coat to fiberglass pool molds, using approved spray equipment and techniques.
- Achieve required thickness and finish quality in accordance with specifications and TFM targets.
- Ensure molds are prepped appropriately prior to gel coating, ensuring cleanliness and proper mold condition.
- Monitor gel coat material consistency, spray patterns, and environmental conditions.
- Inspect gel-coated surfaces for defects or inconsistencies.
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Maintain and clean gel coat equipment and work areas.
- Complete required production and quality documentation.
- Support training and process improvement initiatives as assigned.
- Consistently wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience in fiberglass, coatings, or manufacturing environments preferred.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to complete and maintain required training and certifications.
- Flexibility to work overtime and possibly have schedule changed when production requires.
