Part-Time Freight Handler

Position Overview: This role involves transporting freight within a dock environment, ensuring proper handling, securing, and documentation of cargo to support efficient trailer loading and unloading. Key Responsibilities Operate motorized and manual equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks for freight handling.Verify freight details against documentation, including type, weight, and hazardous materials.Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and ropes.Inspect and repair damaged freight as needed.Complete and verify required paperwork and reports.Assist customers with freight and documentation tasks.Perform hostling duties if required and ensure compliance with safety regulations.Work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Must be at least 18 years old.Experience in warehousing, freight handling, or forklift operation preferred.Ability to perform basic math, lift heavy freight, and operate trailer doors.Strong physical stamina, including bending, twisting, and pushing/pulling.Effective verbal and written communication skills. Working Conditions: The environment includes exposure to weather, fumes, dust, noise, and requires physical activity. Flexibility in hours may be necessary to meet operational needs.
