Part-Time Controls Technician

About the role

The Weekend Controls Technician is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, and PLC-controlled production equipment to ensure operational reliability.

Key duties

• Monitoring equipment to identify hazards and performance issues, performing repairs, and implementing improvements.
• Proficiently using ladder logic programming, especially on the Allen Bradley platform (RS Logix 500 and 5000).
• Documenting repairs and preventive maintenance using enterprise asset management systems.
• Tracing issues with electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic components.
• Maintaining backups of control programs and evaluating new equipment under operational conditions.
• Setting up and troubleshooting servo controls, variable frequency drives, and motors such as servo, DC, and induction motors.
• Collaborating with maintenance and process teams on machine enhancements.
• Utilizing digital multimeters and assisting with electrical troubleshooting across the plant.
• Documenting equipment set-points and parameters accurately.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years' related experience, preferably an associate's degree in a technical field.
• Ability to obtain forklift and aerial platform licenses.
• Proficiency with enterprise asset management software and Microsoft Office is required.

• Strong troubleshooting, PLC programming, electrical and mechanical knowledge, and teamwork in a manufacturing environment.
