About the role

The Nursing Station Technician (NST) position is available at St. John's Hospital in Maplewood, MN. This role is part of a growing campus and involves caring for patients in an outpatient and short stay department.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the direct supervision of a nurse to provide excellent customer service, collaboration, and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team on a fast-paced unit.
  • Assist the professional caregiver in delivering patient care, including personal hygiene, vitals, daily activities, repositioning, transporting, and feeding.
  • Transport patients and/or equipment 1:1, sit with patients, set up and maintain patient rooms, reorder and stock supplies, answer phones, process admissions, discharges, and transfers, and transcribe orders.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required.
  • Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or equivalent.
  • Six months of recent direct care experience in a long-term, home care, or acute care setting.
  • Current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one semester of clinical rotation within the program.
  • Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire.

Qualifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required.
  • Ontrack participants must be able to obtain BLS for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program.
  • One or more of the following qualifications:
  • Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program.
  • Six months of recent direct care experience in a long-term, home care, or acute care setting.
  • Current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one semester of clinical rotation within the program.
  • Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire.

Skills

Nursing Station Technicians should possess excellent customer service, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary care team.

Pay

The starting base rate of pay for the Nursing Station Technician is $24.16. Candidates with experience may be brought in at a higher rate of pay.

Schedule

This position works 48 hours every two weeks (0.6 FTE) on the Nightshift and also works 8-hour shifts, working every other weekend.
