Nursing Station Technician (NST) - Pediatric Med/Surg IMC
About the role
The Nursing Station Technician (NST) position at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital is a hybrid role combining elements of a Nursing Assistant and Health Unit Coordinator. This position works on a fast-paced unit, delivering direct patient care and administrative duties under the supervision of a professional nurse.
Responsibilities
- Assists the professional caregiver in the delivery of patient care such as personal hygiene, vitals, daily activities, repositioning, transporting, and feeding
- Transporting patient and/or equipment 1:1 sitting with patients
- Setting up and maintaining patient rooms
- Reordering, and stocking supplies
- Answering phones, processing admissions, discharging and transferring forms, transcribing orders, assembling patient charts and ordering tests
Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required
- Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program
- Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting
- Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program
- Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire

Pay
The starting base rate of pay for the Nursing Station Technician is $23.40. Candidates with experience may be brought in at a higher rate of pay.
Schedule
This position will be working 40 hours every two weeks on the DAY/EVENING variable shifts, 8 hour shifts, every other weekend.
