Nursing Station Technician (NST)- Outpatient Observation
Job Overview
Fairview is seeking a Nursing Station Technician (NST) for the Outpatient Observation team at the University of MN Medical Center East Bank Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. The NST assists professional caregivers in delivering patient care, transports patients and equipment, sets up and maintains patient rooms, and coordinates communication.
About the Role
The NST works 0.70 FTE (56 hours per two-week pay period) with 8-hour day shifts from 7am-3:30pm, rotating weekends. They are supervised by professional nurses and may or may not be given patient care assignments based on unit needs.
Responsibilities
- Facilitates timely communication on the patient care area
- Answers the telephone and relays patient requests
- Schedules tests, lab work, and other patient procedures
- Prepares charts for discharge and transfers
- Maintains patient care areas and supplies
- Provides basic patient care duties
Requirements
- BLS certification
- One of the following: Six months of recent hands-on patient care experience, enrolled in an LPN, RN, or NP program, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on the MN Registry, Completed Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program
Qualifications
- Demonstrates familiarity with medical terminology and abbreviations
- Transcribes physician’s orders accurately
- Participates in orientation of new staff
- Performs routine patient care duties

An individual's pay rate within this range may be influenced by various factors including FTE, skills, knowledge, educational background, and qualifying experience as specified in the contract.
