About the role
The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking a Next Gen Program Facilitator to positively impact the community through various youth programs. This role engages and facilitates group work with middle and high school students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate weekly sessions across all NextGen Leadership programs: Youth Civic Engagement, Workforce Development, and Y Achievers
- Deliver engaging, culturally responsive programming focused on civic education, college and career readiness, mentorship, financial literacy, workforce preparation, and socio-emotional learning
- Guide students through real-world learning experiences, including mock legislatures, career bootcamps, industry tours, service-learning projects, and leadership development activities
- Support planning and implementation of program events such as conferences, college tours, career exploration sessions, and mentoring meetups
- Ensure consistent, high-quality delivery of curriculum aligned with YMCA values and program standards across schools, branches, and community sites
- Supervise teens in both onsite and off-site environments, ensuring their safety, participation, and well-being at all times
- Recruit and retain diverse cohorts of middle and high school students across multiple program tracks
- Build and sustain strong partnerships with school staff, community leaders, employers, and postsecondary institutions to support student success
- Represent the NextGen portfolio at community and partner events to increase visibility and impact
- Foster inclusive, supportive spaces that promote student voice, leadership, belonging, and growth
- Motivate teens through regular feedback, recognition of progress, and the development of soft skills including communication, resilience, and self-advocacy
- Model and reinforce YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in all interactions
- Deliver and adapt core curriculum for each program area (YAG/MUN, Achievers, Workforce) to fit site and cohort needs
- Facilitate workshops on topics such as civic advocacy, public speaking, resume writing, financial literacy, and emotional regulation
- Ensure all content promotes equity, access, cultural relevance, and real-world readiness
- Coordinate with program leads to integrate guest speakers, community partners, and alumni to enhance student learning
- Maintain accurate records of student participation, attendance, and outcomes using program databases and spreadsheets
- Support logistical needs for events and sessions, including registration, transportation, materials, and venue coordination
- Collaborate across departments and program teams to align efforts, share insights, and report on program impact
- Collect and analyze student feedback for continuous improvement and report progress toward grant and program goals
- Participate in branch-specific trainings in addition to other Professional Development opportunities hosted by the Association
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Demonstrated ability to engage and facilitate group work with middle and high school students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds in both formal and informal learning environments
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required, with the ability to deliver programming and communicate effectively with students and families in both languages
- Strong cultural competence and understanding of diverse communities, including Hispanic/Latino populations, particularly in Camden, NJ
- Proven experience delivering curriculum-based youth programs across multiple development domains, such as college and career readiness, mentorship, financial literacy, and social-emotional learning
- Skilled in using interactive, culturally responsive methods to foster engagement and build strong relationships with youth and their caregivers
- Effective communicator with the ability to support meaningful connections across culturally and linguistically diverse communities
- Demonstrated ability to foster inclusive, trauma-informed, and culturally relevant learning environments
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with youth, families, and partners
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple cohorts and project timelines
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and attend required overnight conferences
- Reliable personal vehicle required; this role involves regular travel throughout the Camden, NJ area
